Zapatero and Aznar decline to take part in Aminatou Haidar documentary
DR

The documentary focusing on Aminatou Haidar, funded through a crowdfunding initiative, recently made its debut in Spain. It is currently being featured at Fisahara, a film festival in Madrid organized by Polisario supporters.

This film explores the «hunger strike» staged by the Sahrawi activist, during which she spent her days at a Canary Islands airport and returned to her hotel at night. This protest was in response to her expulsion from Laayoune by Moroccan authorities in November 2009.

For this segment, the director sought perspectives from former Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and his ex-Foreign Minister, Miguel Ángel Moratinos. However, both PSOE members declined to participate, as reported by an Iberian media outlet. Former Prime Minister José María Aznar, from the People's Party (PP), known for his frequent criticism of Morocco, also opted out of the project.

It's worth noting that a Malaga-based production company announced the documentary's creation last March, with approximately 15,000 euros raised through a crowdfunding campaign promoted on social media, as detailed in a previous report.
