The Ministry of Health and Social Protection announced on Saturday that the administration of Moulay Abdallah Hospital in Salé has reported «no record» of a woman giving birth on a Rabat tram.

Upon receiving the information, the ministry immediately opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the incident, according to an official statement.

After reviewing reception logs, analyzing surveillance footage, and gathering testimonies from security personnel, investigators concluded that «no passage of the concerned individual was observed».

According to on-site findings, the woman showed signs of imminent childbirth while on the tram in Rabat and suffered severe hemorrhaging, prompting the rapid intervention of Civil Protection teams, the same source said.

She was transported to Souissi Maternity Hospital, where she received medical care and monitoring. It was later confirmed that the newborn was in a state of fetal demise, the ministry added.

Preliminary findings also indicate that the patient has been «suffering from psychiatric disorders for some time», and she is «currently admitted» to Razi Hospital to receive the necessary treatment.

The ministry expressed its regret over the tragic incident and extended its sincere condolences to the woman’s family, stressing that such cases are handled with «seriousness and transparency».
