Marsa Maroc and the Spanish group Boluda Corporación Marítima have entered into a strategic agreement involving the acquisition of a 45% stake in Boluda Maritime Terminals (BMT), the port division of Boluda. The transaction, valued at 80 million euros (around 850 million dirhams), was approved by Marsa Maroc’s board of directors on November 19, 2025, and remains subject to regulatory approval.

The stake will be acquired through Marsa Maroc International Logistics (MMIL), a wholly owned subsidiary dedicated to the group’s international expansion. Through this deal, Marsa Maroc will gain access to a network of nine terminals operated by BMT across the Iberian Peninsula and the Canary Islands. In 2024, these terminals handled more than one million TEUs, playing a central role in maritime flows between mainland Spain and the archipelago.

The partnership aims to generate operational and industrial synergies between the two groups by leveraging their complementary expertise in port terminal operations. Both partners share a strategic vision centered on strengthening the Morocco–Spain maritime corridor, one of the key trade routes in the Strait of Gibraltar, with future development opportunities in Africa and beyond.

For Marsa Maroc, the agreement represents a new milestone in its regional expansion strategy. With a presence now established on both sides of the strait, the group operates 34 terminals in 20 ports, reaffirming its ability to form alliances with major global players as part of its «Marsa 2030» strategic roadmap.

Boluda Maritime Terminals operates terminals in Spain and the Canary Islands connected to 11 Boluda Lines shipping routes linking Europe, West Africa, and Cape Verde. Marsa Maroc, meanwhile, manages 25 terminals across 11 African ports, handling more than 60 million tonnes of cargo annually.
