Three people were arrested, Sunday, in Casablanca on suspicion of tampering with digital data processing systems used for visa appointment bookings and illegally reselling those appointments, Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced on Monday.
The suspects allegedly used fake accounts and false identities to gain unauthorized access to the online systems dedicated to booking visa appointments. Initial findings indicate that they sold these appointments illegally for amounts ranging between 2,000 and 5,000 dirhams.
During the arrests, police seized several mobile phones and digital storage devices believed to contain digital evidence linked to this criminal activity.
The suspects have been placed in police custody under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor as part of an ongoing investigation aimed at identifying all criminal acts attributed to each individual.
