The African Development Bank Group and Morocco's Fonds d’équipement communal signed a second €150 million financing agreement in Rabat on July 22 to support investment by Moroccan municipalities, according to a statement released by the bank on July 23.

The funding will finance sustainable, inclusive and climate-resilient infrastructure projects, including rural roads, drinking water networks, urban renewal programs, and educational and socio-cultural facilities.

The initiative aims to improve local public services, particularly in rural areas, expand access to essential services, strengthen climate resilience, and promote job creation and investment opportunities. The African Development Bank will also provide technical assistance to strengthen the FEC's operational capacity.

The agreement was signed alongside a grant agreement and a letter of intent establishing a long-term strategic cooperation framework between the two institutions. According to the African Development Bank, the project is aligned with Morocco's national development priorities and supports the country's territorial development objectives.
