The Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan in Marrakech was inaugurated on Wednesday, in a ceremony led by Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Morocco, Saulekul Sailaukyzy. During this event, Younes Essassi, the Chairman, CEO, and founder of Anfa Realties Group, was officially appointed as the honorary consul overseeing the Marrakech region.

Essassi’s responsibilities will include safeguarding the rights and interests of Kazakh citizens residing in or visiting the area, as well as promoting closer collaboration between economic, institutional, cultural, and tourism sectors of both countries.

Ambassador Sailaukyzy remarked that the establishment of the honorary consulate marks a significant step in enhancing Kazakhstan's consular presence in Morocco. This local representation is expected to deepen bilateral relations and aid in the development of cooperative efforts, she added.

She further highlighted the historical ties between Kazakhstan and Morocco, which were formalized on May 26, 1992. Recent milestones include the opening of Kazakhstan’s embassy in Rabat in December 2020, the anticipated launch of a mutual visa-exemption program in March 2025 for stays of up to 30 days, and the establishment of a Kazakhstan-Morocco business council.

The honorary consulate is situated in Les Villas d’Anfa Marrakech, marking Anfa Realties Group’s inaugural real estate project in the city.
