Morocco's date exports to Germany hit record high

Morocco exported 714 tons of palm dates worth more than €4.2 million to Germany between July 2025 and May 2026, marking a record high, according to EastFruit. The volume is 22 times higher than total exports during the 2024/25 season and more than six times the combined shipments of the previous five years.

The surge has been driven almost entirely by premium Medjool dates, despite Morocco remaining one of the world's largest importers of lower-priced dates from countries including Egypt, Tunisia, the UAE and Algeria to meet domestic demand.

EastFruit noted that Germany has become one of the main European markets for Moroccan Medjool, positioning it alongside Israeli products in the premium segment. The outlet added that Morocco now has a realistic chance of entering Germany's top 10 date suppliers for the first time, as the country also posts record or near-record exports of oranges, sweet peppers and cucumbers to the German market.
