A Morocco–France Task Force meeting on cooperation ahead of the 2030 World Cup was held Thursday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Salé.

Chaired by Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and the Morocco 2030 Foundation, the meeting brought together French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade Nicolas Forissier, CGEM’s Mohamed Bachiri, and French Football Federation president Philippe Diallo.

Lekjaa described the 2030 World Cup as a major milestone in Morocco’s development, noting that the Kingdom will host several major sporting events before then. He highlighted ongoing collaboration between Moroccan and French operators and expressed interest in drawing on French expertise, particularly from the Paris 2024 Olympics.

He also announced a new cooperation track focused on youth through football, aimed at promoting «tolerance, fair play and inclusion».

Forissier said his visit is part of efforts to strengthen French-Moroccan ties, praising cooperation in sectors such as the economy, industry and agriculture. He also commended Morocco’s organizational capacity, notably during the Africa Cup of Nations, adding that France aims to contribute its know-how.

«Beyond the economic dimension, this cooperation aims to strengthen friendship between our two peoples and inspire younger generations», he said.

Bachiri stressed that the 2030 World Cup is also a structuring economic project, capable of attracting investment, modernizing key sectors and creating jobs. He noted that such events have lasting impacts on a country’s trajectory, citing France’s experience with the 1998 World Cup and the 2024 Olympics.

«Co-hosted with Spain and Portugal, this competition positions Morocco as a strategic bridge between Europe and Africa», he added.

A panel discussion held on the sidelines brought together Moroccan and French companies to explore cooperation opportunities.
