For days, the family of a young Moroccan man, Yassine Chadli, has been waiting for authorization from a court in Ceuta to repatriate his body to Morocco after Spanish Civil Guard officers found him dead in the waters near the border area on May 11.
Although his identity has been officially confirmed and all administrative procedures completed, the family is still awaiting judicial approval to transfer the body through the Tarajal crossing into Morocco ahead of his burial in his hometown of El Jadida, according to local sources.
Yassine had reportedly been attempting to reach Ceuta with his friend. Civil Guard underwater intervention teams recovered the bodies of the two young men from the waters near the border, where they were found wearing diving suits and carrying identification documents. A third companion survived.
According to available information, one of the victims was found floating at sea, while the other was discovered on the beach.
