Morocco reaches record sixth in latest FIFA rankings

Morocco has reached its highest-ever position in the FIFA men's world rankings, climbing to sixth after its run to the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Atlas Lions remain the highest-ranked African and Arab national team, sitting just behind fifth-placed Brazil.

The latest rankings, published on Monday after the conclusion of the World Cup, reflect Morocco's strong performances during the tournament, where it reached the last eight before being eliminated by France.

At the top of the standings, newly crowned world champions Spain overtook Argentina to reclaim first place for the first time since January. Argentina dropped to second, followed by France and England, while Portugal slipped to seventh after its round-of-16 exit.
