The Spanish National Police, in coordination with customs surveillance services, have dismantled a network that provided logistical support to speedboats used to smuggle drugs from Morocco to the Spanish coast. The operation, carried out in the province of Huelva, resulted in the arrest of four people.
The operation began after a «drug boat» was spotted off the coast of Punta Umbría. Investigations led officers to a warehouse used to supply the boats with fuel and provisions. While monitoring the site, authorities arrested three people transporting 100 fuel containers in a truck. A subsequent search of the warehouse led to the seizure of 300 additional containers, along with food, clothing, water, and two dismantlable boats.
In a second phase, in the town of Gibraleón, authorities identified a farm being used to store fuel intended for smuggling boats. Officers intercepted a truck carrying 75 fuel containers, while a search of the farm uncovered another 325 containers hidden inside a horse stable.
In total, 800 containers holding 20,000 liters of fuel were seized, with an estimated value of around €160,000, in addition to two boats and two trucks.
