Seboua determined to back Atlas Lions despite visa difficulties and high travel costs

For years, the «Sboua» group has made a habit of being wherever Morocco’s national team is. From the stands in Qatar to the Africa Cup of Nations stadiums in Morocco, the group has followed the «Atlas Lions» with its unified chants and organized support. As the 2026 World Cup approaches, it is preparing for a new journey behind the national team, this time amid challenges linked to visas, travel costs and the rules governing the entry of supporters’ equipment.

As it has always done by following the Moroccan national team wherever it plays, the Seboua group is preparing for a new challenge as the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico approaches. This time, however, passion alone may not be enough. The group faces a series of obstacles, chief among them the difficulty of obtaining U.S. visas, the high cost of travel and accommodation, and strict restrictions on bringing supporter equipment into stadiums.

Despite these challenges, members insist they are determined to be in the stands backing the Atlas Lions, just as they have done at previous tournaments where they left their mark among Moroccan supporters. The name Seboua has become synonymous with the unified chants that echo through the terraces, including «Shalalala... Dima Maghrib», one of the songs most closely associated with the national team in recent years.

Speaking to Yabiladi, Mehdi Bouazza, one of the group's members, said that some members had successfully obtained U.S. visas while others had not. Those who secured visas, he explained, would travel to support the national team throughout the World Cup.

Coordination with Moroccan communities abroad

He added that the group is not relying solely on members based in Morocco. For months, it has been coordinating with members of the Moroccan diaspora in countries such as France, Spain and elsewhere to help ensure a strong Moroccan presence in stadiums across the United States.

The visa issue remains one of the group's biggest challenges, alongside the question of bringing supporter equipment into stadiums. According to Mehdi, FIFA imposes strict regulations on flags, banners and other fan materials, requiring supporter groups to submit requests in advance and obtain approval before using them inside venues.

The vast distances between host cities will also place an additional financial burden on supporters, whether through airfare, train tickets or other transport costs. Even so, Mehdi stressed that «love for the national team is stronger than any obstacle» and noted that Moroccan fans are accustomed to making sacrifices to support the Atlas Lions around the world.

As for the atmosphere expected in the stands, he revealed that the chants for which the group is known are available on its official YouTube and Spotify accounts. He added that supporters can expect new songs and innovative forms of support prepared specifically for football's biggest event.

He also announced plans for fan gatherings in the United States, which have already been promoted on the group's official platforms, as well as the opening of membership and communication channels for supporters wishing to contribute to organizing activities around the national team.

Despite the logistical challenges posed by the tournament, Seboua appears determined to continue accompanying the Atlas Lions, remaining faithful to a tradition it has upheld throughout the team's major footballing milestones. Mehdi concluded with the phrase that has become the group's trademark: «Seboua... and our voice is heard».

The Seboua group was officially founded in March 2025 during Morocco's match against Tanzania in Oujda, after its members had accumulated years of experience following the national team abroad, including in Qatar, Chile and Côte d'Ivoire. It quickly emerged as one of Morocco's most prominent organized supporter groups, particularly during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where it played a key role in unifying chants and leading support for the Atlas Lions in the stands.
