The return operation for Moroccan seasonal workers who took part in the agricultural season in Spain’s Huelva province began on Thursday, following the end of a months-long harvest campaign.

The agricultural organization UPA said the return journey began in the town of Palos de la Frontera. The convoy includes a bus to transport the workers and a luggage truck, as well as a technical mediator fluent in Arabic and a support team overseeing the trip to the port of Tarifa, where the women will board ferries bound for Tangier.

The organization praised the work carried out by the Moroccan women during their stay in Huelva, stressing that their contribution was essential to the success of the agricultural season, one of the key pillars of the province’s local economy.

The system of recruitment in the country of origin for Moroccan workers continues to play a central role in Spain’s red fruit sector by providing the labor needed during peak periods of agricultural activity.
