For Chemsdine Talbi, the instinct is never to play it safe. It is to take on defenders, create danger and force the issue. While many modern wingers prefer to recycle possession, the Brussels-raised youngster is always looking for an opening: a feint, a burst of pace, a duel to win. He is the kind of player who would rather fail while attempting something daring than succeed by avoiding risk.

Born in Sambreville in 2005, Talbi grew up far from the spotlight that now surrounds him. Yet Club Brugge identified his potential early on: a slender youngster capable of leaving opponents behind in a matter of yards. At one of Belgium's most renowned academies, he learned to refine his instincts without losing the spontaneity that makes him such a dangerous player.

His profile quickly stood out. More than a pacey winger, Talbi developed into a player capable of unsettling defenses through initiative and creativity. His game often escapes predefined patterns. He belongs to that rare category of footballers who see an opportunity where others see a dead end. An extra feint, a forward-thinking first touch, a one-on-one embraced without hesitation — his football thrives on the unexpected.

The winter of 2025 proved to be a turning point. Until then regarded as one of Belgian football's brightest prospects, Talbi took his game to another level. As his playing time increased, so did his responsibilities. In the Champions League, his direct running and fearless approach attracted attention well beyond Bruges. Suddenly, the label of «promising talent» no longer seemed sufficient.

Morocco or Belgium: «A difficult choice»

For months, Talbi's international future fueled debate on both sides of the Mediterranean. In Morocco, supporters hoped he would choose the Atlas Lions. In Belgium, many expected him to remain with the country where he had been developed. Every statement was scrutinized and every appearance analyzed.

Talbi, however, refused to rush the decision.

In a video that quickly went viral among Moroccan and Belgian supporters, he was asked whether his choice would be guided by his heart or by reason.

«A difficult choice», he replied.

Three words that perfectly captured his dilemma at the time.

Unlike many dual-national players who make an early decision, Talbi chose to take his time. Belgium represented the environment in which he had grown as a footballer and the youth national teams he had already represented. Morocco, meanwhile, embodied a significant part of his family identity and an ambitious sporting project energized by the country's historic run to the World Cup semi-finals in 2022.

After months of reflection, Talbi ultimately opted for Morocco, bringing one of the most closely followed dual-nationality sagas of his generation to an end.

More than a change of sporting allegiance, the decision marked a new chapter in his career. Long regarded as one of Belgium's brightest prospects, Talbi is now emerging as one of the leading faces of Morocco's next generation. At just 20 years old, he now carries the expectations that come with that status.
