The family of the late Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafez has objected to the organization of a tribute concert in Morocco bearing the artist’s name and using his image in promotional materials, saying it was done without their authorization.
In a statement posted on social media, the family called for a boycott of the event and accused the organizing body, «Halim Academy», of exploiting Abdel Halim Hafez’s name and image to stage concerts and secure sponsorships and donations without the consent of his heirs.
The family further claimed that it has no knowledge of how the funds generated through these activities are being managed, arguing that the late artist’s name is being used for financial gain.
The heirs also said they had filed a complaint with the Moroccan Royal Cabinet and recently appointed a law firm in Morocco to pursue legal action against the organizers.

The statement comes after the announcement of a concert marking Abdel Halim Hafez’s birthday and World Music Day, scheduled to take place in Casablanca on June 21. Yabiladi contacted the event organizers to seek comment on the allegations made by Abdel Halim Hafez’s family, but received no response.
