Morocco approves new decrees to reform university governance

The Government Council on Wednesday approved three draft decrees to implement Law 59.24 on higher education and scientific research, presented by the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation.

The measures include Draft Decree No. 2.26.328, which sets out the conditions and procedures for appointing a university's administrative and financial director, and Draft Decree No. 2.26.330, which defines the conditions and procedures for electing department heads, as well as the duration of their terms and the allowances attached to the position, government spokesperson Mustapha Baitas said following the meeting.

The Council also approved Draft Decree No. 2.26.502, which establishes the amount and payment procedures for allowances granted to university vice-presidents, as well as the presidents, vice-presidents and secretaries-general of higher education institutions.
