Samia Haimoura is a 23-year-old Moroccan national who has successfully climbed Mount Kilimanjaro (5895m) in Tanzania, becoming the youngest Moroccan mountaineer to make it to Africa's highest peak, reports a communisué sent on Monday to Yabiladi.

The Al Akhawayn University graduate's journey was done in several stages and lasted for seven days. Passionate about extreme sports, the young woman was sponsored by Al Akhawayn University, and accompanied by a team of porters, cooks and guides. «This experience taught me how to be grateful for the simplest things», she said, once her goal was achieved.

«It all started with a lot of excitement», she continues and it ended up with a great sense of accomplishment. However, «the most important steps, the ones we rarely talk about, are those between the beginning and the end».

The next two years will be marked by new challenges that she is determined to take. In fact, the young woman is planning to climb five other peaks : Mount Elbrus in Europe, Mount Denali in North America, Mount Aconcagua in South America, Mount Vinson in Antarctica and Mount Kosciusko in Australia.
