In a phone call, head of Hamas’s political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh asked Moroccan Prime Minister Saadeddine El Othmani, Sunday, to help Palestine overcome the efforts made to change the status of Al-Quds, said the Islamic Resistance Movement in a communiqué made public Monday.
Haniyeh thanked El Othmani for the efforts made by the Kingdom and the Moroccan people, supporting Palestine and protesting against the recent American decision. On the phone, the Hamas official briefed El Othmani on the details of the Palestinian struggle and the consequences of Donald Trump’s move, says the same source.
He also urged Morocco to «provide medical assistance for the Palestinians injured by the Israeli occupation forces during the Great March of Return», a six-week campaign composed of a series of protests launched at the Gaza Strip.
On May the 14th, Israeli forces killed dozens of Palestinians, taking part in mass protests in the Gaza strip to denounce the opening of American embassy in Jerusalem.
A field hospital in Gaza
For his part, El Othmani hailed the «Moroccan-Palestinian diplomatic relations», stressing that he will take good note of Haniyeh’s request, says the same communiqué.
On Sunday evening, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued a press release, indicating that King Mohammed VI gave his instructions to set up a medical-surgical field hospital of the royal armed forces (FAR) in Gaza.
The hospital aims to provide civilians in the Gaza strip with the necessary assistance, added the same statement.
«The Moroccan Monarch’s initiative in this holy month of Ramadan is in line with his unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause and shows his active and effective solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people», wrote the ministry in the same statement.
Following the above-mentioned decision, Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita phoned Ismail Haniyeh, Monday, reiterating Morocco’s help for Hamas and the Palestinian people.
