The Polisario and Botswana signed on Monday, 6th of August, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, a joint statement «on the establishment of diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level», reported the Front’s «news agency», SPS.

Lamine Baali, the Polisario’s «ambassador» to Ethiopia and the African Union, and Botswana’s ambassador to the continental organization Mmamosadinyana Molefe met in Ethiopia’s capital for the signing of the document.

Their meeting comes as the Polisario’s head Brahim Ghali and the Botswana president Mokgweetsi Masisi held talks in Gaborone, the Southern African nation’s capital.

For the record, Botswana recognized the «Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic» on the 14th of May, 1980, before the Front joined the African Union.
