Head of government Saâd Eddine El Othmani categorically denied, Thursday, the transmission of cholera in Morocco, ensuring that the epidemiological situation in the country is healthy.

Speaking at the beginning of the Cabinet meeting, El Othmani reassured all citizens that «the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom is healthy» and that there was no danger of transmission of this disease.

After having reported a continuous vigilance whose level has been raised among the health executives and the various departments concerned, the head of government noted that in case of detecting any case, even if it is minor, the degree of health intervention will increase and the ministry of Health will be mobilized to inform citizens, on the one hand, and face the situation, on the other hand.

In this regard, El Othmani deplored the spread of rumors and attempts to stir panic and fear among citizens without any reason, noting that erroneous information on an alert issued by the ministry of Health on the consumption of tap water or certain foods is «unfounded».

He also recalled the official statement issued by the Health Department which clarified that no case of cholera has been recorded in the Kingdom.

The ministry of Health, in coordination with the Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO), has taken a series of preventive and proactive measures to protect Morocco's borders and preserve the health of citizens, he pointed out.
