Moroccan actress Sarah Perles prenominated for the César awards for her movie «Sofia»

The César Award, the national film award of France which is taking place on February 22nd, 2019, has released a list of the artists prenominated for the award’s 2019 edition.

Moroccan-Portuguese actress Sahara Perles is part of the list made public by the César, she announced on her Facebook page.

Prenominated for her role in the Moroccan film «Sofia», directed by Meryem Ben M’Barek and released in 2018. The movie has been awarded by the Cannes Film Festival 2018.

Sarah Perles has been chosen alongside other international actresses, including Kenza Fortas (Sheherazade), Camille Razat (L’amour est une fête) and Souheila Yacoub (Climax).

Earlier this month, the Moroccan film «Sofia» won three prizes at the 29th edition of the Carthage Film Days. The jury hailed the quality of the film and stressed the importance of the topic treated by the Meriem Ben M’barek.

The film tells the story of a young Casablanca girl who lives with her parents and who finds out that she is pregnant. Sarah Perles plays the role of  Lena, the cousin of heroine.
