A Moroccan national assaulted a border guard at the Kyiv Boryspil International Airport after he was refused entry to Ukraine, reports Ukrainian press agency UNIAN on Friday.
The man was enraged after he was told that he cannot enter the Ukrainian territory, the same source said, quoting a border control report. According to UNIAN, the Moroccan told border guards that he is staying in Ukraine as part of an exchange program and that he would be teaching English and another language.
However, a press service of the State Border Guard Service stated that his English was «poor» and that he did not have enough money on him to stay in Ukraine.
«Perhaps, the passenger was very upset over the fact because he did not seem to be willing to return home. He was quite aggressive and attempted to assault a border guard», the report said.
The Moroccan man was arrested and was «brought to administrative responsibility for noncompliance with law enforcement», the same source wrote, indicating the authorities in the airport reported the incident to national police.
