An American diplomat meets representatives from pro-Polisario NGOs in Laayoune

An American diplomat at the United States embassy in Rabat visited Laayoune on Friday. «The political advisor who arrived in Morocco a few months ago, met with pro-Polisario associations : Aminatou Haidar’s CODESA and Brahim Dahan’s ASVDH», a well-informed source who requested anonymity told Yabiladi.

«The American diplomat did not meet the region’s Wali as the tradition dictates», the same source added.

«She reportedly asked the representatives from CODESA and the ASVDH to provide her with cases of corruption of elected officials in the Sahara. The political advisor particularly encouraged them to give information on the family of Ould Erchid», the same source said.

The Ould Erchid family heads Laayoune’s town hall and the council of the region Laayoune-Boujdour-Sakia El Hamra.

This trip comes only a week after a delegation composed of American officials, led by Senator James Inhofe, visited the Tindouf camps.
