Nizar Baraka hands over a letter from King Mohammed VI to Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz

The Secretary-General of the Istiqlal Party, Nizar Baraka, handed over, Monday, a letter from King Mohammed VI to the Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz.

«This visit highlights the good relations between the two sister countries», wrote the Mauritanian Press agency in a statement published today.

«There is a strong determination of the two heads of state to strengthen, diversify and expand the areas of bilateral cooperation and to mobilize all economic, social, political and cultural actors to achieve the objectives meant to secure integration in Maghreb region», the same source said.

On February the 26th, the Minister of Culture and Handicrafts and the government spokesman Mohamed Ould Maham, who is also chairman of the Union for the Republic (UPR), was received by Prince Moulay Rachid. He handed the Prince a message from the Mauritanian President to King Mohammed VI.

Before flying to Morocco, the Mauritanian Minister visited Algeria and Tunisia. In the Algerian capital, Ould Maham met on February the 19th Algeria’s Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia. Three days later, he was received at the Carthage Palace by the Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebssi.

For the record, Nizar Baraka has been in Nouakchott since Saturday. He is leading a delegation of the Istiqlal Party invited by the Union for the Republic party (UPR) to take part in its national conference.
