Moroccan runner Hicham El Guerrouj loses two of his world records

In two weeks, Moroccan runner Hicham El Guerrouj lost two of his world records. On Sunday in Boston (USA), 21-year-old Ethiopian Yomif Kejelcha broke the previous indoor mile world record of 3:48.45, set by El Guerrouj in 1997.

Kejelcha finished with a time of 3:47.01, during the Bruce Lehane Invitational, reports sports platform Runners World.

On February the 19th in Birmingham, UK, Ethiopian runner Samuel Tefera broke Hicham El Guerrouj’s 1500 Indoor world record. The 19-year-old athlete finished the race in 3:31.04, beating «Hicham El Guerrouj’s 22-year-old world record of 3:31.18», set in 1997, says Lets Run.

Hicham El Guerrouj maintains for the moment three world records : The 1,500-metre run in 1998, the mile run in 1999 and the 1999 IAAF Grand Prix Final.
