A Moroccan exchange student, who was sent to the Netherlands, left his Amsterdam host family’s house without a trace this week, Dutch newspapers Parool and NRC reported. On Tuesday night, Mohammed E. left the house, jumping out of the window.

The 14-year-old teenager was considered a missing person at the beginning. The Moroccan was with a group of 15 students as part of an exchange program in partnership with Amsterdam-based Spinoza High School in Amsterdam. He left on the day he was expected to return to Morocco.

«It seems that this boy planned his action in advance», the school wrote in a letter to his parents.

«The teachers of Spinoza High School found out that the young Moroccan is still active on social media», said Jan Paul Beekman form the Spinoza High School. «At least we know he's alive, but we're very worried».

A police spokesperson told Het Parool that «he has been in contact with his sister in Norway. From those messages we conclude that he is no longer in the Netherlands. He is likely in Germany». «It seems like a preconceived plan, in the hope that he can stay in Europe», the spokesperson concluded.
