Young Sahrawis in Tindouf set a police car on fire, Wednesday, to protest against the kidnapping of three activists.

While pro-Polisario media claimed that the act was carried by a «criminal group», an office for the Sahrawi community settled down in Europe alleged in a communiqué sent to Yabiladi that «Morocco could be behind these acts».

«The incident in Tindouf took place after the family members of Sahrawi activist Abba Bouzeid held a meeting to discuss the steps, they should take to defend the rights of their son. Disappointed and angered after the Front refused to reveal the place of detention of the activist, young people in the ‘Smara camp’ attacked a ‘police officer’ and set a police vehicle on fire», a well-informed source told Yabiladi.

«The Polisario does not want to add fuel to the fire, knowing that the family and tribe of the activist are angry and irritated», the same source added, stressing that no arrest has been made.

The family of the Sahrawi detainee is threatening to organize a sit-in, Monday, before the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ office.

For the record, Moulay Abba Bouzeid, an influential member of SIC, was arrested while taking part in a sit-in staged in the «Samara camp» in front of the delegation of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
