Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares said he was not aware of the case involving the arrest of Moroccan journalist Ali Lmrabet, who lives in Barcelona with his wife, at Tangier airport, stressing that he had «no details about it».
Speaking in an interview with the Hoy por Hoy program on Cadena SER radio, he added that he would look into the matter, emphasizing that he did not currently know the details or the circumstances surrounding it.
Yesterday, the King’s Prosecutor at the Casablanca Criminal Court announced that Lmrabet had been arrested on Sunday on the basis of several search notices previously issued against him, on suspicion of committing acts deemed criminal under the law.
The case relates to his publication of a series of digital materials that fall within the scope of criminalization because they allegedly included defamation and slander against individuals and institutions, as well as insults directed at bodies regulated by law.
