Morocco : In Tetouan, a solidarity sit-in in support of Palestine banned by the authorities

A solidarity sit-in in support of the Palestinian people in Tetouan was canceled, Tuesday. Organized by a local students’ organization called «Attajdid Attolabi», affiliated to the Unity and Reform Movement (MUR) was prevented by the local authorities.

According to the group’s secretary-general Mohamed Rebbah, «authorities have prevented [protesters] from gathering», adding that «a member of the group was brutally beaten and insulted while another one was injured in the neck».

Mohamed Rebbah assured that the local authorities had «refused to receive the notice for the sit-in, although it was submitted more than 48 hours before the organization of the event». «It is not the first time that this happens. Three solidarity events organized by the organization last year had been cancelled by the authorities, which cites security measures», he concluded.
