Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez received, Wednesday in Madrid, Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita.
Sanchez and Bourita discussed «migration issues, European Union ties and the recent fisheries and agricultural agreements signed between Morocco and the EU», announced the Moncloa Palace in a statement.
«The two countries have positively assessed that the number of migrant arrivals (in Spain) has decreased by 55% compared to last year», the same statement added.
They also stressed the importance of the €32 million aid fund, approved in August by the Spanish government, to help Morocco combat smuggling networks.
Sanchez and Bourita discussed ties between the Kingdom and the European Union, emphasizing the «fundamental role» played by Spain to help Morocco receive funds in exchange for managing its borders.
In Madrid, the Foreign Minister also met with his Spanish counterpart, Josep Borrell.
