Morocco has imposed a tariff of 27 percent on apparel and other textile items imported from Turkey despite the Morocco’s Turkey free trade agreement (FTA), wrote textile news platform Fibre2Fashion.

According to the same source, the new tariff, effective from January 1, will affect companies importing apparel and textile items from Turkey. The tariff will affect Turkey’s textile imports to Morocco until December 31, 2021.

For the record, Morocco and Turkey signed in 2004 a free trade agreement. The agreement was implemented in 2006, with sales of Turkish textiles reaching $1 billion in 2018.
