Morocco’s main telecommunication company Maroc Telecom (IAM) made an adjusted profit of 6 billion dirhams in 2019, moving by 1% compared to the previous year, Reuters reports, quoting the company.
In a press release about the results, Maroc Telecom announced that its revenue moved by 1.3% to 36.5 billion dirhams in 2019 due to growing mobile data activity in the Kingdom and in African subsidiaries. The company said that the number of its clients grew by 11.1% to 67.5 million in 2019.
In January, Maroc Telecom was fined by Morocco’s telecom regulator (ARNT) for a «abusing its dominant position in the market by hindering competitors’ access to unbundling on its network and the fixed market». The telecommunication company has to pay 3.3 billion dirhams.
However, Maroc Telecom said in its recent press release that it considers appealing the decision.
