Royal Moroccan Armed Forces (FAR) are expected to take part in a military exercise from March 8 to 27 to ensure security at facilities that are expected to host the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Al Sharq reports.

Elements from NATO, the US, France, Jordan, Pakistan, Rwanda, and Turkey will also participate in the same military exercise.

The military exercise will take place weeks after a high-level Qatari delegation visited Rabat. In a press release, the Interior ministry said that several working sessions were held between the Interior minister, the lieutenant General, Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie and the Director general of national Security, Director general of Territorial Surveillance, with a high-level Qatari delegation.

The working sessions were devoted to examining ways of cooperation and sharing expertise between the two countries in the field of securing major sporting events to help Qatar host the sports event.

The Kingdom has expressed its willingness to place the experience accumulated by its security services, under the national Security and the Royal Gendarmerie, in the field of the management and security of major international sporting events.
