Morocco confirms its seventh coronavirus case

The seventh confirmed coronavirus case has been recorded in Morocco, the Health Ministry said in a press release made public Friday.

The patient is a 39-year-old Moroccan who returned from Spain. He landed in Casablanca, March 4, and showed respiratory symptoms. The man tested positive for coronavirus after undergoing the tests, the Health Ministry said.

The patient is currently being treated in a Casablanca hospital, the Health authorities said.

The recent announcement brings the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Morocco to seven. The patients are a French national, his wife and daughter, a French-Senegalese woman and a Moroccan who came from Italy.

On Tuesday, Morocco announced the first death linked to the virus. The deceased patient is an 89-year-old woman who travelled to Italy and was diagnosed with the virus days after landing in Casablanca.
