Days before he died, Younes Zabdi, a Moroccan stranded in the Philippines, made a moving video to thank the people who helped him. Sitting with his daughter and son, the man thanked Moroccans who reached out to him and supported him financially and emotionally.

«Whenever I take care of my children and feed them, I think of my Moroccan brothers around the world who supported me both financially and emotionally. It really helped me get out of my depression», Younes said in a video he sent to a Moroccan YouTuber.

«I am proud to be Moroccan and to know that many Moroccans have been by my side. I hope this message will reach those who considered me as a brother to them in Morocco and elsewhere», he said while cuddling his children.

Younes Zabdi had also indicated that he «met Moroccans in the Philippines, who rushed into helping him», saying that he was given the opportunity to «return home with the children and reunite with [his ] family».

Indeed, the video indicates that the Moroccan, who previously worked in the United Arab Emirates, was planning to a return to Morocco with his wife, a Filipino national.

Zabdi died earlier this week after his health condition deteriorated. His remains will be buried in the Philippines because of the coronavirus health crisis, the Moroccan embassy in Manila said on Thursday.
