The president of the Movement for the Society of Peace (MSP) the biggest Islamist party in Algeria, Abderrazak Makri, said on Wednesday that the Western Sahara issue should not affect relations between Algeria and Morocco, considering the closure of borders separating the two neighboring countries as a huge «mistake that should be corrected».
Morocco and Spain have finally reached a common ground on the issue related to the closure of Melilla’s commercial borders. Officials from both countries met yesterday and agreed to work together to find technical solutions for the problem.
Pedro Sanchez’ cabinet is expected to answer questions, asked by Spanish deputies on the closure of commercial borders, separating Morocco and Melilla. The request was submitted by the People’s Party, Ciudadanos and PDeCAT.
The Spanish government is expected to examine, on August 29th, the «possible answers» to Morocco’s decision to close commercial borders with Melilla. The meeting, to be held in Madrid, is the first of its kind.
Melilla's president denounced the closure of commercial borders, separating Morocco and the Spanish enclave. For Juan José Imbroda the decision is an «insult ro Spain' sovereignty over the city».
Since August the 1st, borders used for commercial purposes with Melilla have been closed, affecting merchants in the Spanish enclave. Some of them sought the help of Spain’s Prime Minister while others preferred to knock on Angela Merkel’s door.
