Morocco rose to 73rd place in the 2024 Commitment to Reducing Inequality Index, largely due to post-earthquake reconstruction efforts and increased education spending. However, the report warns that this progress may be short-lived, as many top risers could see future declines.
Morocco stands out as the leader in the Maghreb, ranking 68th globally with access to 72 countries without a visa or with a visa on arrival, according to the Henley Passport Index 2024. On a continental scale, the kingdom is in 14th position, behind countries like Mauritius and South Africa, while European and Asian passports dominate globally with very extensive access.
Morocco scored 38 points on Transparency International's 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), ranking 97th out of 180 countries and territories worldwide. This score remains unchanged from 2022, signifying no progress in curbing corruption.
