21.61.قَالُوا فَأْتُوا بِهِ عَلَى أَعْيُنِ النَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَشْهَدُونَ

21.61. – «Amenez-le devant la foule, cria-t-on, pour qu'elle apporte son témoignage contre lui !»

21.61 . They said : Then bring him ( hither ) before the people ' s eyes that they may testify .

21.61. Qaloo fa/too bihi AAala aAAyuni alnnasi laAAallahum yashhadoona

21.62.قَالُوا أَأَنتَ فَعَلْتَ هَذَا بِآلِهَتِنَا يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ

21.62. – «Est-ce toi, Abraham, lui demandèrent-ils, qui as fait cela de nos dieux?»

21.62 . They said : Is it thou who hast done this to our gods , O Abraham?

21.62. Qaloo aanta faAAalta hatha bi-alihatina ya ibraheemu

21.63.قَالَ بَلْ فَعَلَهُ كَبِيرُهُمْ هَذَا فَاسْأَلُوهُمْ إِن كَانُوا يَنطِقُونَ

21.63. – «C'est le plus grand d'entre eux que voici qui l'a fait, répondit-il. Interrogez-les donc, si toutefois ils peuvent parler !»

21.63 . He said : But this , their chief hath done it . So question them , if they can speak .

21.63. Qala bal faAAalahu kabeeruhum hatha fais-aloohum in kanoo yantiqoona

21.64.فَرَجَعُوا إِلَى أَنفُسِهِمْ فَقَالُوا إِنَّكُمْ أَنتُمُ الظَّالِمُونَ

21.64. Alors, s'étant concertés, ils se dirent : «Après tout, c'est nous qui étions dans l'erreur !»

21.64 . Then gathered they apart and said : Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong doers .

21.64. FarajaAAoo ila anfusihim faqaloo innakum antumu alththalimoona

21.65.ثُمَّ نُكِسُوا عَلَى رُؤُوسِهِمْ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَا هَؤُلَاء يَنطِقُونَ

21.65. Puis, changeant brusquement d'avis, ils dirent à Abraham : «Tu sais bien que les idoles ne parlent pas !»

21.65 . And they were utterly confounded , and they said : Well thou knowest that these speak not .

21.65. Thumma nukisoo AAala ruoosihim laqad AAalimta ma haola-i yantiqoona
