Melilla's president denounced the closure of commercial borders, separating Morocco and the Spanish enclave. For Juan José Imbroda the decision is an «insult ro Spain' sovereignty over the city».
Since August the 1st, borders used for commercial purposes with Melilla have been closed, affecting merchants in the Spanish enclave. Some of them sought the help of Spain’s Prime Minister while others preferred to knock on Angela Merkel’s door.
While several Arab states have decided to stand with Saudi Arabia in ist recent crisis with Canada, Morocco has, so far, preferred to remain silent.
Morocco has been making steps backward in the United Nations e-Government Survey. The Kingdom is ranked 110th in the world, remaining at the bottom of the ranking.
Spain’s left-wing party Podemos has warned the Spanish government against reaching a solution with Morocco to solve the problem of migration. The party believes that Morocco uses the current migratory crisis to blackmail Spain.
