Following the floods that occurred in Casablanca on Tuesday, January 5, due to heavy rains, which hit the city in record time, the municipal council of the economic capital called on Wednesday for an urgent meeting. The meeting was also attended by the managers of the Casablanca delegatee Lydec.

«Casablanca is experiencing an exceptional mobilization of elected officials and authorities to assess the damage caused and remedy its repercussions», the council said in a statement.

The same source explained that it received a number of complaints from citizens who had their properties and cars damaged.

«Faced with this situation, it was decided to hold an emergency meeting on Friday, in order to study the situation and assess the extent to which Lydec has fulfilled its contractual obligations», the statement said.

The mayor of Casablanca, Abdelaziz El Omari assured, in a statement to Casablancacity.ma, that «a letter was sent to the company Lydec asking it to submit an integrated report on the details of what happened and measures taken to identify impacts and determine post-assessment responsibilities».
