Cases of Covid-19 infection have posted a 6.4% increase over the past two weeks in Morocco, according to the ministry of Health.
This is the fourth consecutive week of increase. Such development requires more vigilance and compliance with preventive measures to maintain the gains, said head of the communicable diseases division at the epidemiology and disease control department, Abdelkrim Meziane Bellefquih, who presented, Tuesday in Rabat, the ministry's bimonthly report on the epidemiological situation.
A significant drop (-20.1%) was observed in the number of active cases which fell from 4,237 two weeks ago to 3,364 cases. As for the critical cases, they have increased by 4.5% (401 against 419).
The reproduction rate (R0) of the Covid-19 has stabilized at 1.06, while it was below 1 over the past weeks.
According to the official, the data require more vigilance with greater respect for preventive measures to preserve the gains at a time when the national vaccination campaign is underway in good conditions. The goal is to achieve a coverage rate of 80% of the population, he recalled.
Welcoming the smooth running of the campaign which kicked off 13 weeks ago, Bellefquih voiced the Health ministry's resolve to double its efforts so as to procure sufficient quantities of Covid-19 vaccines.
