Moroccan ambassador, Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs discuss Sahara issue

The settlement of the Sahara issue was at the heart of a meeting held Wednesday in Moscow, between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Vershinin and Morocco’s Ambassador to Russia Lotfi Bouchaara. 

According to a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, «an in-depth exchange of views took place on issues on the agenda of the UN Security Council, including the Sahara issue».

The statement indicated that a «just and lasting solution is only possible through political means based on the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council». «The importance of appointing as soon as possible a new personal envoy and the resumption of negotiations between the parties has also been noted» was also addressed during said meeting.
