A Moroccan family has been forced to leave their house in Urk, a town in the central Netherlands, after facing harassment and attacks triggered by a false accusation against their teenage son.

According to regional newspaper Omroep Flevoland, the family consisting of a grandmother, parents and three minor children left their home for more than a month and a half after their minor son was wrongly blamed for burning Israeli flags.

The teenager became the target of online abuse that escalated into real-world threats and violence. Their house was pelted with stone twice, leaving windows shattered.

Despite the mayor's offer of alternate housing, the fear for their safety, particularly for their homeschooled children, proved too much to bear. The family has now scattered, finding refuge with relatives across the Netherlands.

Calls for justice and a thorough investigation into the threats and attacks grow louder with each passing day. Muslim organizations voice their concerns and have urged authorities to act swiftly to ensure the safety of all residents, regardless of their background.
