The Polisario Front has expressed opposition to the planned opening of a new hotel in the city of Dakhla by the Spanish hotel chain Senator & Resort. The announcement of the «Senator Babylonia Delight Collection» hotel, slated for May 2024, sparked concerns from the separatist group.

In a letter to the hotel chain's head, the Polisario's representative in Spain highlighted potential conflicts with «the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence». They warned of unspecified actions to defend these rights and offered to discuss «any initiative» aligning economic interests with «the rights of the people of Western Sahara».

Meanwhile, Senator & Resort sees the new hotel as an «international leap in Morocco» and part of its 2024 expansion strategy. The initial phase will offer 50 rooms.
