A Moroccan parliamentary delegation led by House of Representatives President Rachid Talbi Alami is set for a «diplomatic» visit to Nouakchott on February 9-10 at the invitation of Mauritanian National Assembly President Mohamed Ould Meguett, according to a press release from the Moroccan Lower House.
Meetings with the head of government and Mauritanian ministers are also on the agenda, the release highlighted.
This announcement follows on the heels of Algeria dispatching Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf to Nouakchott just hours later, carrying a message from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to his Mauritanian counterpart Mohamed Cheikh Ould El Ghazouani.
Mauritanian National Assembly President, retired General Mohamed Ould Meguett, just concluded a visit to Algeria from January 19-22, where he met with his Algerian counterpart Brahim Boughali and President Tebboune. Notably, this visit preceded the launch of the newly formed Morocco-Mauritania parliamentary friendship group by Mauritanian deputies.
