King Mohammed VI of Morocco received, Wednesday, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez at the Royal Palace in Rabat for a meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations. This visit, part of a «new phase» initiated in April 2022, marks progress in cooperation, coordination, and partnership across various fields, reads a statement by the Royal Palace.
Both leaders emphasized trust, respect, ambition, and good neighborliness as guiding principles. Sanchez reiterated Spain's support for the Moroccan autonomy plan as a «serious, realistic, and credible» solution to the Western Sahara dispute, a position welcomed by the King.
The joint World Cup 2030 bid with Portugal emerged as a further opportunity to solidify ties. Additionally, Sanchez expressed Spain's interest in the King's strategic initiatives like the African Atlantic Initiative and the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline.
The meeting, attended by high-level officials from both sides, concluded with a review of the Royal Guard and a traditional ceremony.
