Acting on precise criminal intelligence from the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGTS), police officers in Agadir, in cooperation with the Royal Navy and Royal Gendarmerie, seized a fishing boat and thwarted an international drug smuggling attempt involving a large shipment of approximately 10 tons and 542 kilograms of Al-Shira.

In a joint statement, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and DGTS announced that based on intelligence, law enforcement officers were able to detect and intercept the fishing boat on Sunday, March 17th.

The operation resulted in the seizure of over 10 tons of drugs and the arrest of 13 sailors suspected of involvement. The competent public prosecution has entrusted the Central Bureau for Judicial Investigation of the DGTS to lead the investigation, aiming to uncover all national and international connections to this criminal activity, as well as identify potential links with international drug trafficking networks.

This qualitative operation is part of the ongoing national efforts involving all security services to ensure an effective response and combat international drug trafficking networks.
