Hours after he was declared dead, a nine-year-old Moroccan boy came back to life in a seemingly unimaginable event. Last week, health authorities at the Hassan II University Hospital in Fez issued a death certificate for a young boy, announcing his death.
The boy suffered a rare genetic disease that had already claimed two of his siblings at an early age. Before he was declared dead, the boy's condition deteriorated last week, requiring emergency care at the Mother and Child Hospital.
While a specialized medical team managed to resuscitate his heart initially, tests revealed complications affecting his brain and respiratory system, leading to multiple organ failure.
However, a day later, the child suffered another cardiac arrest, and despite the medical team's efforts, he remained unresponsive and showed no signs of life.
Moroccan boy announced dead twice
Following standard procedures for death confirmation, the medical team issued a death certificate on Friday, citing complications from his genetic disease as the cause of natural death.
The boy was then transported to Ghassani Hospital morgue in the same city. Before being placed in the morgue refrigerator, his father was astonished to discover that he was alive, that his heart was beating, and that he was breathing.
He was rushed back to the Hassan II University Hospital, where doctors confirmed that the child was indeed alive, albeit in a critical condition. Tragically, the boy passed away again, on Sunday, and a new death certificate was handed over to his family to proceed with the burial.
Speaking to Yabiladi, a medical source explained that this incident, which may seem impossible and strange to some, is medically possible, and emphasized that several similar cases have been documented in many countries.
