Algerian President made a one-day visit to Egypt yesterday. For once, during these trips abroad or when he receives guests, the head of state did not announce, in his statement to the press, that he had raised the question of the Sahara with President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.

Worse, his host condemned «interference in the internal affairs of countries and attempts to stir up discord between countries», Al-Sisi stressed. A position that parties in Algeria have rejected.

This is evidenced by the article published on Monday, October 28 by Echorouk Online while Tebboune was preparing to leave Cairo for the Sultanate of Oman, entitled: «The Egyptian role between the resistance and the Zionist entity... mediation or collusion?»

«Some analysts point out that the Egyptian mediation (in Gaza) lacks positive neutrality, calling it negative neutrality because it puts the aggressor and the attacked party on an equal footing». The text was then withdrawn, but the damage was already done.

Another Algerian media outlet criticized the preparation of Tebboune's visit to Egypt, acknowledging that «the issues that divide Algiers and Cairo are numerous (...) on the Sahrawi issue, Egypt is closer to the Moroccan than Algerian theses».

Egypt supports the Moroccan plan for autonomy in the Sahara.
