Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday evening to represent King Mohammed VI at the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit.
Upon his arrival at King Khalid International Airport, Akhannouch was welcomed by Prince Mohammed bin Abdurrahman bin Abdulaziz, the Vice-Governor of the Riyadh region.
The Prime Minister will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita during the summit, which is scheduled for Monday at the invitation of Saudi Arabia. The Moroccan delegation also includes Ambassador Mohamed Ait Ouali and Ambassador Mustapha Mansouri, as well as other senior diplomats.
The summit was convened to address the ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza and Lebanon and its implications for regional security and stability. It will also serve as a platform for Arab and Islamic countries to coordinate their response.
This extraordinary summit follows the previous one held in Riyadh on November 11, 2023. A preparatory ministerial meeting involving Arab and Islamic member states, including Morocco, preceded the summit.
